Bahawalpur (                        ): Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that Bahawalpur is a land of peace, tolerance, humility and integrity. Hence, the magnificent historical and cultural heritage besides centuries old local traditions will be introduced on international level and IUB is determined to launch joint ventures with public and private sectors organizations for this purpose. The collaboration with Cholistan Development Council (CDC) is one such glowing example and a number of national level programmes have been organized jointly in recent past including Peace Festival, Cholistan Awards, Baithak and Sambhal.  The Vice Chancellor was exchanging views with a delegation of CDC in his office at Abbasia Campus. On this occasion, Directors CDC Farooq Ahmed Khan and Razia Malik accompanied by executive members were present. It was decided in the meeting that Cholistan Awards Ceremony will be organized during the first week of April. Eminent personalities will be conferred awards for excellent contribution in their particular field during this ceremony. A national conference will also be organized to promote inter faith harmony in the month of March 2012 at Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi Hall. Similarly, local artistes will be invited to display their performance on the eve of Vice Chancellor’s Conference at Islamabad under the auspices of Higher Education Commission which will promote great cultural heritage of Cholistan on national and international level.
