Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that in future the significance of any university will be determined on the basis of research activities going on at the campus. Hence the faculty is required to submit such research projects, considered beneficial for socio-economic development of the region. The Vice Chancellor was presiding over 57th meeting of Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASAR) at Abbasia Campus. Other members included Prof. Dr. Rao Muhammad Afzal Khan, Director BASAR, Deans, Registrar and senior academicians. The BASAR approved to award PhD degree to 26 scholars in various disciplines. The board also reviewed implementation report regarding decisions taken during last meeting. Approval of students for admission / registration and topics of dissertation and appointment of supervisors for various PhD programs was also granted. Those who were awarded PhD degree included Syed Zahid Hussain, Abdul Sattar, Qazi Hussain Ahmed Madni, Khalid Iqbal Yasir, Muhammad Imran Anjum, Muhammad Imran Anwar, Ramzi Hussain Faras Shawana, Farhana Manzoor, Ghulam Abbas, Rao Riffat Riaz, Munawar Hussain, Muhammad Shahzad Shifa, Mushtaq Ahmed Awan, Fatima Rasool, Abdul Majeed, Sonia Khiljee, Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal, Waqar ul Haq, Muhammad Naeem Khan, Tasneemullah Khan, Muhammad bin Ibrahim Jasim Shahbani, Fasiullah, Muhammad Tayyab, Fayyaz Ahmed Faizi, Rozina Anjum Naqvi and Shafqat Hussain.
