Bahawalpur ( ): Punjab Rangers under the supervision of Sector Commander Desert Rangers Brig. Ejaz Ahmed Najaf played a major role in rehabilitation of flood effectees of Southern Punjab. Desert Rangers also participated in rescue and relief efforts by providing food, shelter and medical assistance to flood victims. Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar directed the IUB Flood Relief Cell to do joint efforts with the Desert Rangers by sharing resources to help affected people. A five members German Medical Team of IUB Flood Relief Cell provided medical treatment and free medicines to 3000 flood victims of Muzaffar Garh district. Around 250 students and faculty members of the IUB alongwith Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Adeeb, Dean/Registrar visited the Flood Relief Camp of Punjab Rangers in flood affected village of Gharibabad near Mahmood Kot. On this occasion Brig. Ejaz Ahmed Najaf, Sector Commander and Col. Jawed Serwar, Deputy Sector Commander, Desert Ranger briefed the students about rehabilitation activities and plan to re-rebuild 1000 houses. He said that 100 houses, 6 mosques and one primary school has been rehabilitated. They also appreciated the cooperation by the IUB Flood Relief Cell. Later, students and faculty members visited the affected village, participated in re-construction of the destroyed houses. On this occasion 50 quilts were also distributed among flood victim families. IUB team also visited local school, distributed 50 jerseys among students and gave them fruits and other gifts.
