Bahawalpur
is a typical inland city of Pakistan. It
almost marks the central point between Khyber
and Karachi. It is located on a fertile
tract of Satluj River, having an average
height of 384 feet above the mean sea level.
The southeastern part of the city is marked
with tracts of sandy desert with shifting
sand dunes. Yet it has been beautified with
massive man made landscaping & trees
plantation. Thus the greenery and beautiful
landscaping of the university comes as no
surprise.
The land of Bahawalpur occupies a unique
position in all fields of knowledge, especially
in religious and spiritual domains. High
ranking scholars, intellectuals and saints
have been engaged in imparting knowledge
and wisdom.
After attaining the status
of a full fledged University in March 1975,
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur continued
its slow but steady growth in academic and
professional fields. The earlier three campuses
of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur
offer a unique learning environment, with
modern facilities and services to support
the learning. The university has 53 disciplines
of academics & research and is rapidly
pursuing new cerebral openings for studious
institutional growth.
An excellent faculty committed
to quality teaching and research, a flexible
curriculum responsive to the changing needs
of industry, excellent computer facilities,
state-of-the-art infrastructure, and a well-stocked
library contributes to the excellence of
our undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral
programs.
It is a matter of great
satisfaction that now the priorities have
been redefined with education on the top
of the developmental strategy. There is
no paucity of funds for any institution,
rather faster and timely utilization is
the issue. The most precious asset of any
educational institution is the quality of
resource persons. For attracting and retaining
competent staff, reward system is being
rationalized. In this respect revision of
pay scales, contractual appointments and
tenure track system have been introduced.
The hallmark of new strategy is quality
research, which is being encouraged and
rewarded.
