Attractions: a. Scholarship
will cover the tuition fee, books, health
insurance, maintenance & living allowance
and return air fare once.
b. Appointment as faculty member before
leaving for PhD program.
Eligibility Criteria
for PhD or MS/M.Phil leading to PhD
a. MS/M.Phil or Master degree or 4 years
education after HSC/A Level.
b. Minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 or 70%
marks in semester system or 60% marks in
annual system from HEC recognized institutions.
Candidates having 2nd division Master degree
in the subject of English are also eligible.
c. Not more than two 2nd divisions throughout
the academic career.
d. No third division in entire academic
career.
e. GRE (General)/GAT with minimum 50% score.
IUB Special GRE/GAT test will be conducted
by NTS on Sunday,
11th May 2008 at 10:00 AM
in the University Auditorium, Baghdad ul
Jadeed Campus.
f. Number of years of teaching experience
in HEC recognized institutions will be given
due weightage.
General Criteria:
a. Pakistani nationals including AJK, FATA
/ FANA and northern areas.
b. Maximum age by closing date of application
is 35 years for fresh candidates and 45
years for in-service candidates.
Documents to be
attached with the applications
a. CV/Resume and attested copies of all
educational certificates/degrees and CNIC
with 3 most recent passport size photographs.
b. Domicile certificate.
c. Valid GRE (General)/GAT certificate.
d. NOC from employers for in-service candidates
with experience certificates and other relevant
documents.
e. Brief description of research proposal
comprising of 1500-2000 words with two letters
of reference from academic/research supervisors.
Selection Procedure/Terms
& Conditions
a. Only short listed candidates will be
called for interview.
b. Selected candidates other than IUB faculty
members will be offered faculty positions
and they would be expected to join within
4 weeks of issuance of appointment letter
subject to valid admission in the listed
Universities by the notified deadline.
c. Visa arrangements will also be the responsibility
of selected candidates.
d. Selected candidates will commence their
studies overseas from fall semester 2008
or spring semester 2009.
e. Selected candidates will be required
to execute a bond to serve IUB at any of
its campuses for a period of 5 years after
successful completion of PhD.

Candidates are required to fill in the form
and mail at the address given below along
with a bank draft/postal order of Rs: 500/-
(non refundable) in favor of Treasurer,
the Islamia University of Bahawalpur as
application fee.
The date for submission of application for
foreign scholarship under the Faculty Development
Program for all candidates has been extended
to Tuesday,
20th May 2008. However,
the applications can be submitted with additional
late fee of
Rs. 1000/-
upto Monday, 26th May 2008.
Note: 1.
These scholarships are also open to the
existing IUB faculty (Contract and Regular),
who may also apply if interested as per
above procedure.
2. All the subjects/areas of study for which
applications will be entertained can be
seen on the IUB website (www.iub.edu.pk)
3. All existing and upcoming statutes, rules
and regulations of IUB will be applicable.
